“And yet day and night meet fleetingly at twilight and dawn," he said,
lowering his voice again and narrowing his eyes and moving his head a
quarter of an inch closer to hers. "And their merging sometimes affords
the beholder the most enchanted moments of all the twenty four hours. A
sunrise or sunset can be ablaze with brilliance and arouse all the
passion, all the yearning, in the soul of the beholder.” - Mary Balogh, A Summer to Remember. For more sky photos from around the world, please visit Skywatch Friday.

U: Unnamed Beach
This area, now actually called "Unnamed Beach" was once part of Ko Olina Beach Park, but was cut off from it when the nearby marina was built. Here is a description of it from one of my books:
"It often has unusual-looking waves (thanks to a sandstone bench that waves smack into and prevailing offshore breezes that push the tops of the waves backward)" - Oahu Revealed
I recently sat on the sand here and watched the sunset, and that description exactly matched what I saw - I especially liked the way the wave tops were pushed back, creating a spray that glowed in the late afternoon light.

Fireball
The sun looks like a giant beach ball on the horizon, as if it's just about to bounce off of the dark water and back into the sky. Of course, it didn't bounce, just kept slipping beneath the horizon :) For more sky photos from around the world, please visit Skywatch Friday.

Are you ever mesmerized by a sunset? I am, it's one of my favorite things - sitting in the sand, feeling its last warming rays on my skin before the sun slips below the horizon, listening to the waves as they curl and break so rhythmically - for me, that's Hawaii. Un-Named Beach
Yes, that is really the name of this obscure strip of sand near Kapolei! Surely someone should come up with something more creative. But if you are looking for a spot to watch the sunset in solitude, this is one of several options on the island. I think visitors are kept to a minimum here because it's very hard to find and it fronts an industrial area. I'm a little late posting, but for more sky images from around the globe please visit Skywatch Friday.

Sunset Refreshment
There is something so satisfying about a cool freshwater shower after a day in the hot sun and saltwater!

Ka'ena Point: 5 of 7
It was a particularly warm day with little wind, and after our hike I was pretty tired (a five mile round-trip walk over rocky terrain with a 25 pound toddler strapped to my back does that to me!). What better way to rejuvenate than to sit in the cool sand and watch the waves hit the coral shelf while the sun sinks into the ocean. Fireball
I love it when the sun does this - passes through the clouds on its descent, turning them to a bright orange before it emerges below them in a perfect circle and sinks into the sea. For more sky photos please click HERE.

Sails
On most evenings there is a parade of sailboats making their way back to the marina near Ala Moana as the sun sets. Their translucent sails always look so pretty with the light shining through them. For more sky photos from around the globe, please go take a look at Skywatch Friday.

To The Infinity Pool and Beyond
Okay, I know that was a really cheesy title for this post, but I couldn't help it :) This was the stunning view from the infinity pool at the Sheraton Waikiki - I wish I could have been in the water, but sadly I was just walking through the resort. I would love to stay there one night just to watch the sunset while soaking in the pool.

O: Orange Glow
It's not the orange glow of a jack-o-lantern we see this Halloween season, but the the flaming color of a brilliant sunset over the ocean. For other 'O' photos, please visit ABC Wednesday.
