Cabin Sunrise
I took this when we were staying in one of the cabins at Bellows Beach a few weeks ago. From left to right, Manana Island, Kaohikaipu Island, and Makapu'u Head can be seen rising from the water. I love the stillness of a windward sunrise. For more sky images from around the world, please check out Skywatch Friday.

Solitude
That's what comes to mind when I look at this photo. As I walked past the fisherman at sunrise, it was obvious that he'd been there for hours. He had a little tent set up and coffee brewing on his camp stove. Imagine sitting out there in the darkness, with only crashing waves and the occasional biting fish to keep you company!

Top of the World
Well, the top of MY world anyway! I took this after doing a pre-dawn hike up to the Lanikai Pillboxes with my sister in law. We sat here and watched the sun rise, casting its light onto the black peaks of the Ko'Olau Mountain range and several offshore islands. Truly a magnificent view! Lanikai Pillbox Hike
A girl sits on top of one of the World War II Pillboxes at Lanikai and photographs the sun as it rises over the ocean.

Good Morning Sun
Each morning, I try to wake up before the kids just so I can tiptoe across the cool floor and peer through the vintage sliding-glass doors of our little house. From there I get to take in the almost always glorious sunrise unfolding right in my backyard. Every day it's different, and every day it's inspiring.

A Small Lonely Boat
Like a small lonely boat
sails on the Pacific.
no waves, no wind,
on all the sky-line.
Great is this peace,
calm, tranquility.
The silence so deep,
that one starts to dread.
Realizes how close
the opposite are joined.
The peace and unrest,
the joy and sorrow
the laugh and cry.
They do not fight
against one another,
they keep together,
always coexist.
Cannot you know
the one side of it,
cannot value
the WHOLE like One.

Lanikai Sunrise
Earlier this week I got to watch the sunrise at Lanikai Beach with girlfriends while our kids played in the surf. We should start more days that way! It's Skywatch Friday, so click HERE to see other sky images from around the world.
