E: Endangered Species

Green Sea Turtles - called Honu in Hawaii - have been on the International Union for the Conservation of Nature's endangered species list for many years.  The turtle I photographed is part of a breeding sanctuary run by Sea Life Park here on Oahu.  As a result of their efforts over 2200 hatchlings have been born, and many of them have been released into the open ocean.  For more 'E' photos, visit ABC Wednesday.

  2. What a wonderful photo. After visiting the San Diego Zoo two weeks ago and seeing how many animals are on the endangered, critical, or vulnerable list, I am always happy to hear about efforts being made to "save" them. Thankfully, there are people out there that really care about the world and work toward taking care of it. Have a nice weekend. Thanks for sharing your post. Mickie :)

  6. It is a beauty and its great to hear that slowly they are perhaps gaining more of a toehold on the ocean where they belong. Paul at Leeds in Yorkshire daily photography
